ABOUT US
TOMMY MORRIS
CLU-OWNER / FOUNDER
After graduating from Abilene Christian University and coaching for two years under Chuck Moser at Abilene High School, Tommy founded the Agency in 1956. He has been with the Agency for over 65 years. A former Abilene City Councilman, West Texas Utilities Director, Abilene Christian University Trustee, Citizens Bank Director, West Central Texas Municipal Water District Director, and past Chairman of the Hendrick Foundation, Tommy has strong ties to the Abilene area and a vast amount of health and life insurance experience.
TRENT POINDEXTER
CPA-OWNER / PRESIDENT
Trent graduated with a master’s degree in accounting at Texas Tech University and became a licensed CPA in 2010. Trent has experience in public accounting and various other service industries. Trent joined the Tommy Morris Agency as an owner in January of 2024, after being a client for over a decade. He brings an expertise in business development and financial analysis, as well as a wide network of contacts within the business community of Abilene and the surrounding areas.
NANCY JOHNSON
CPA-EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT / EXECUTIVE OFFICER
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Nancy has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1982. Her experience spans both public accounting and private industry, including 14 years in banking in Abilene. Nancy is licensed in both Life/Health and Property/Casualty Insurance. She has brought a unique perspective to the Agency, given her many years as a “purchaser” of employee benefits programs rather than a “seller.”
SHIRLEY VELASCO
MEDICARE AND BENEFITS SPECIALIST
Shirley Velasco is an experienced insurance agent with 17 years in the life and health insurance industry, exclusively with Tommy Morris Agency LLC. She holds a Life/Health insurance license and is trained and certified to handle Medicare insurance needs. Shirley conducts enrollment activities and other services for our group employer plans, providing clients with expert guidance to navigate their options. She takes a special interest in assisting our Medicare eligible clients and her extensive knowledge and commitment to client service have made her a trusted partner in securing the right coverage.
